GWENGWE REJOINS HIS OLD POLITICAL PARTY

Opposition People’s Party (PP) Presidential running mate in last year’s tripartite election Sosten Gwengwe has finally rejoined Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Gwengwe was welcomed in the Party by MCP’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at a rally that took place on Sunday at Kamwendo School ground in Mchinji.

The development comes barely a month after rummours were all over on the social media that Gwengwe who also once served as Minister of Trade and Industry in the PP regime was holding secret talks with MCP officials for a possible return and that he was just waiting for former President Dr. Joyce Banda to say bye to his former Party.

Other notable faces that were welcomed by Chakwera include former parliamentarian, George Zulu, former DPP Regional Governor Kalanzi Mbewe, Agnes Mkusa Nkhoma and former minister Abel Kayembe.

Meanwhile PP Spokesperson Ken Msonda has welcomed the move taken by Gwengwe, saying he is free to go.
