Former Cabinet minister and leader of opposition in parliament Gwanda Chakwamba can now breathe a sigh of relief following the assistance that has started flowing in from well wishers.

The veteran politician has been struggling financially among other things failing to pay rental fee and electricity bill

In Interview with Nation newspaper, former cabinet minister and legislature Moses Dosi said well wisher has paid for Chakwamba’s rent for 10 months. “The money was deposited into account,” said Dosi

He also said two other donated money worthy K50, 000 each when Chakwamba was in Lilongwe over the weekend to receive an honorary degree and many people have pledged to assist

Chakwamba served in various positions in one party state of founding president Hastings Kamuzu Banda from late 1960 to 1980.
