Death has been announced for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Mtope Ward councillor, John Msumatiza at the age of 52.

Mchinji District Council Chairperson Kennedy Chipanga confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying Msumatiza died at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) on Sunday around 9pm after a long illness.

Chipanga described late Msumatiza as a development oriented man.

Late Msumatiza is survived by a wife and six Children.

Meanwhile burial of late Msumatiza will be held today Thursday at Mtope Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Simphasi in the district.
