MAN COMMIT SUICIDE IN NKHATA-BAY AFTER QUARRELING WITH HIS SISTER

A 31 year old man has killed himself after picking a quarrel with his blood sister in Nkhata-Bay district.

Confirming the development, Police Publicists in the district, Sergeant Igneous Esau identified the deceased as Tionge Chunda of Kamodza Village, Traditional Authority Mkumbira in Nkhata-Bay.

Esau said the matter was reported to police by the deceased’s mother Mrs Foster Veronica Chunda.

“We got reports that  late hours of Tuesday the deceased (Tionge Chunda) had a fight with his sister over his behavior as he was always found drunk and could not care about the welfare  of the home,” said Esau.

The PRO said Chunda who once worked as an Accountant at Nkhata-Bay District Council Offices   blacked his demeanor few months ago when he lost his job.

Esau further said that tired of his behavior the sister to the deceased sought to cancel him so he would change but he could not listen.

During the night of this fateful day the disagreement resurfaced with his sister but the mother intervened until next morning when he was found hanging in his room using a mosquito net.

Postmortem results at Nkhata-Bay district hospital revealed that the death was due to strangulation.

Meanwhile, the police in the district advise people to find proper means of quenching their anger other than taking off their lives.

“We are humans, we make mistakes but we should always remember that life comes ones, let’s not kill oneself nor kill others,” concluded Esau
