Police in Mzuzu have re-arrested a prison escapee for allegedly various electronic appliances believed to have been stolen in Mzuzu and around Ekwendeni areas.
The suspect identified as Chancy Mwanjisi is believed to have escaped from Mzuzu prison where he was serving his sentence.
Mzuzu Police public relations officer Patrick Saulosi confirmed of the development in an interview with the State broadcaster (MBC 1).
“Yes we can confirm the man is an escape from the Mzuzu Prisons and was serving a sentence,” he was quoted as saying.
Saulosi also disclosed that the Police have managed to recover the stolen items which include plasma screens, speakers and DVDs.
Mwanjasi hails from Mwenepondo Village Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga district.
