WILLIAM MATAMBO NOW NEW ACCOUNTANT GENERAL: MAKIWA MOVED TO NAO

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has hired the services of former Director of Strategy and Risk at the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) as new Accountant General, replacing Thomas Makiwa.

Makiwa has been redeployed to National Audit Office (NAO) to be Deputy Auditor General.

Chief Secretary to the President George Mkondiwa has confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country [Nation newspaper].

He said the appointment is with immediate effect.

Matambo holds a Master’s degree in Insurance and Risk Management from Cass Business School and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).

He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) from the University of Malawi and certifications in internal auditing and business continuity management.
