A 49-year-old woman has committed suicide in Mzimba by hanging herself after suspecting that her husband was cheating on her.
Mzimba Police officials have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to FaceofMalawi and identified the deceased as Oliva Qumayo.
The incident occurred on September 13, 2015 in Chidyake village.
According to the deceased husband, identified as Brighton Mbewe, aged 54 of the same village, on the material day, Mbewe was coming from grazing goats and on his way back he met a woman of the same village and they started chatting.
In the course of their chatting, the deceased found them and suspected that they were in love.
Mbewe said the deceased left the place in anger and went to the nearby bush where she hanged herself in a tree.
Qumayo hails from Chidyake village, Traditional Authority Mbelwa in Mzimba district.
Meanwhile the Malawi Police Service (MPS) have urged the general public not to resort to taking their own lives whenever they are angered, disappointed or feel they cannot get hold of the situation they are in.
