HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST BACKS THE ABOLITION OF JCE EXAMS

As debate continues among Malawians over the government decision to abolish the administering of Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) Examination across the country, one of the human rights activists in the country Billy Mayaya has backed the idea.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Mayaya said getting a certificate half way through high school does not make sense.

“I support the abolishing of JCE. The idea that someone would get a certificate half way through high school did not make sense!,” wrote Mayaya.

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika approved the abolishment of JCE examinations as part of Public Service Reform his government through the Office of the Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima is undertaking.

According to the statement seen by FaceofMalawi, Mutharika has also order the Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) in Collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to stop the printing of Primary School Certificate of Education (PSLCE) Examinations.

Meanwhile Malawians have expressed mixed reactions on the matter with others supporting it while others trashing the idea.
