TEACHER PLEADS GUILTY OF ATTEMPTING TO SALE HIS ALBINO GIRLFRIEND AT MK6 MILLION

A Nkhata Bay man who was arrested by Police in Mzimba on suspicion that he wanted to sell his albino girlfriend to a Tanzanian National has pleaded guilty to the charge leveled against him.

Phillip Ngulube, aged 21 who was working as teacher at Mongo Primary School in Mzimba district was arrested on Monday on allegation that he wanted to vend his girlfriend at K6 million.

The suspect was brought before the Mzuzu Principal Resident Magistrate Court Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to Northern Region Police Publicist Sergeant Maurice Chapola, while in Mzimba, Ngulube started a love affair with the victim [with albinism], but later on it was alleged that the suspect approached a Mzuzu-based Tanzanian National that he was selling an albino.

The police spokesperson said the deal went sour when the potential buyer reported the matter to police who later ambushed and arrested the suspect. The law enforcers charged him with an attempt to commit the felony which is contrary to Section 402 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the Magistrate Court in Mzuzu has adjourned the hearing of the case to 22nd of September, 2015, saying prosecutors from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) who are responsible for cases to do with those interfering with lives of people living with albinism were in Karonga for similar duties.
