HEAVY RAINS HIT MACHINGA DISTRICT: 30 HOUSES BLOWN OFF BY STRONG WINDS

Close to 30 families in the eastern district of Machinga have been rendered homeless following heavy rains combined with strong winds that hit the district on Thursday.

According to the eyewitness who confided to FaceofMalawi, the heavy rains accompanied with strong winds started around 5 pm, injuring four Children in the process.

He said the Children are currently receiving treatment at Machinga District Hospital.

The rains is said to have affected mainly the area of Traditional Authority Nsamala.

Machinga District officials confirmed of the development in an interview with FOM’s reporter, saying currently the office is working with Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) to access the damage caused by the rains.
