CROCODILE KILLS A STANDARD 4 PUPIL IN NKHATA-BAY

A standard 4 pupil is reported dead in Nkhata-Bay after a crocodile attacked him when he was fishing at Lifupa River in the district.

Nkhata-Bay Police Public Relations Officer Ignitius Esau confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Blessings Phiri, a Standard 4 pupil at Kachere primary school.

According to Esau, the deceased together with his friends on Monday went for fishing along Lufupa River near Lake Malawi. Whilst fishing, the crocodile struck the deceased and dragged him into the water and disappeared to unknown place.

The Police together with the community launched a search for the missing boy and on Wednesday half of the deceased body was found lying along the same river.

This is the second incident to happen in Nkhata-Bay this year alone.

The deceased hails from Iteta village, T.A Fukamapiri in Nkhata Bay district.
