POLICE RESCUES A 14-YEAR-OLD ABDUCTED GIRL IN MULANJE

Luchenza police recently intercepted a 20 year old Mozambican national who abducted a 14 year old girl from Chonde Village in the area of Tradition Authority Nthiramanja.

According to Luchenza Police Officer-In-Charge, Senior Superintendent Isaiah Mlowoka the suspect Chifundo Mavuto who was doing small scale business at Chonde Trading Centre fell in love with a standard 7 pupil of Malo Primary School in the area.

“Then the suspect decided to go back to Mozambique to start marriage life with the girl without the consent from parents because they were not aware about the relationship.

“The girl was then reported missing and her parents discovered that she had left with the suspect to Chinakanaka Trading Centre in Mulanje where they were hiding as they were preparing for their journey to Mozambique,” he said.

Mlowoka said the parents reported the matter to police and immediately they launched an investigation.

He said police together with the parents went to Chinakanaka trading centre where they established that the two had just left some minutes for Mozambique via Mulanje boarder.

The police rushed to Mulanje boarder accompanied by the parents where they intercepted the two at Limbuli trading centre.

“Upon seeing the parents of the girl and the police vehicle, the suspect took to his heals and is still at large.

“Meanwhile, we have counseled the girl and she has since gone back to school,” said the Luchenza Police officer-In-Charge. mana
