UNIMA GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION VENUE CHANGED

The University of Malawi (UNIMA) has shifted venue for its Golden Jubilee Celebrations scheduled to be held at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday, October 10, 2015 to College of Medicine Sports Complex from 7.00 a.m.

Although the statement does not provide any reason for the abrupt Change, FaceofMalawi understand that the changes is due to the fact that the Stadium is scheduled to host an International match between Malawi national football team the Flames and the Taifa stars of Tanzania.

According to the statement, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who is also the Chancellor of the University of Malawi will preside over the celebrations as Guest of Honour.

Contrary to the earlier arrangement where cohorts of graduates streamlined by a period of a decade from 1965 expected to march from o the tune of the Police and Malawi Defence Force brass bands from the Blantyre Civic Centre to Kamuzu Stadium, the statement says cohorts of graduates will march from the Mahatma Gandhi Dining Room to the College of Medicine Sports Complex.

According to the statement, some activities marking the celebrations include presentation of honorary degrees, floats of scholarly exhibitions by students and lecturers and floats of UNIMA alumni symbolizing collaboration with society.
