2 MEN FINED FOR DIGGING BONES OF A WOMAN WITH ALBINISM

The Kasungu First Grade Magistrate Court has ordered 2 men to pay a fine of K20, 000 each or in default serve 18 months Imprisonment with hard labour (IHL) for trespassing into a graveyard.

Court heard that the two Yamikani Phiri and Peter Kamanga on 5th October this year at around 8pm were caught in grave yard at Chisazima village digging a grave in which the late Mirriam Mesa, who was with albinism, was buried.

On the 11th October, they appeared before Kasungu FGM Court where they pleaded not guilty to the charge of trespassing into a grave yard which is contrary to section 129 of the Penal Code.

The state paraded four witnesses and on the 11th November, Magistrate Damiano Banda found them guilty and sentenced them to pay a fine of K20, 000 each in default to serve 18 months IHL.

Yamikani Phiri and Peter Kamanga are from Chisazima village TA Kaomba in Kasungu.mana
