25 GIRLS FROM MVELA MISSION SECONDARY SCHOOL ARRESTED

Police in Dowa have arrested 25 girls from Mvela Mission Secondary for allegedly damaging school properties during a demonstration the students held on Tuesday.

The girls allegedly went on rampage in protest against an abuse by some teachers at the school who call them prostitutes.

The girls also protested over failure by the schools’ administration to iron out some challenges rocking the school such as shortage of water and other basic necessities.

Dowa Police Public Relations Officer Richard Kaponda confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Kaponda said the girls will appear in court soon to answer charges of malicious damage.
