Two men believed to be gays are in Police custody in the capital Lilongwe for allegedly being caught red-handed having sex.
Kanengo Police spokesperson Ester Nkwanda confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspects as Cuthbert Kulemela, 19, and Kelvin Gonani, 39.
According to Nkwanda, the two were caught on Monday in Area 25 in the capital after leaving a drinking joint.
When Kulemela was leaving the house he met community policing members who asked him several questions on what had been transpiring inside the house,” said Nkwanda.
He admitted to have been having sex with his fellow man.
Gay sex is a crime in Malawi with custodial sentences of up to 14 years imprisonment.
