MUTHARIKA TO CLIMAX CAMPAIGN FOR DPP CANDIDATES IN ZOMBA CHISI BY-ELECTIONS ON SATURDAY

As candidates intensify their campaigns for Zomba-Chisi Constituency by-elections scheduled for December 22, 2015 on Tuesday, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will on Saturday be in the constituency to woe support for its candidates.

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which is in governance pact with United Democratic Front (UDF) has fielded Mark Botoman as its candidates.

According to a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) released on Friday signed by Chikondi Juma made available to FaceofMalawi say, President Mutharika will arrive arrive at St Pauls Day Secondary School ground in Traditional Authority Mwambo’s area, at about 1 O’clock in the afternoon.

The statement says all guests and dignitaries are being requested to be seated by 12:30.

The constituency fail vacant after the death of DPP MP Peter Chizalo Mangulenje.

Meanwhile Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is expected to close the campaign trail for the constituencies on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at exactly 6am, 48 hours before the elections.
