Police in Ntcheu recently intercepted a Minibus registration number MH6201 with 84 bags of (Chamba) cannabis sativa.
Ntcheu Police officials confirmed of the development in a statement made available to FaceofMalawi, saying the illegal drug was intercepted at an adhoc roadblock which was mounted at Bawi stores.
“After realizing that ahead of him there were traffic officers, the driver of the minibus stopped near the roadblock and tried to turn back, but he failed.
“The driver disembarked from the mini bus and ran away,” reads the statement in part.
The minibus was found carrying 84 bags of canabis sativa and was taken to the station.
Meanwhile Police have launched a manhunt for the driver of the minibus who is currently at large.
