UDF MP CAUGHT HAVING SEX WITH UNDERAGE RELEASED ON BAIL

The Police in Lilonge have released on bail United Democratic Front (UDF) Member of Parliament for Machinga Constituency Shaibu Kaliati.

Kaliati was arrested on Friday last week for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl at Annies Lodge in the capital Lilongwe.

Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya disclosed this in Parliament on Monday afternoon, saying more details will be announce later.

The development prompted Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Spokesperson Jessie Kabwila who is also Salima North West MP to stand on point of order asking the Speaker to allow the August House to debate on the matter, saying the issue is of national importance.

Reacting to the claims, Msowoya ruled Kabwila out of order saying is she want debate on the matter they are procedures that need to be followed for the to be discussed.

Meanwhile legal affairs committee of Parliament has called for Justice on the matter.
