‘ATUPELE WON’T RESIGN’-NDANGA

United Democratic Front (UDF) Spokesperson Ken Ndanga has dismissed calls for the resignation of Atupele Muluzi, saying he will not resign from the Party.

Ndanga’s remarks come following calls from some Central Region top party members who were moving around advocating for the immediate resignation of Muluzi, accusing him of failing to run the Party.

The grouping was also advocating for an early convention where new leader will be appointed to replace Muluzi who is currently serving as a Cabinet Minister in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as Minister of Housing.

Speaking in an interview with one of the state controlled radio [MBC 1], Ndanga said those people advocating for convention are disgruntled.

Ndanga also accused the expelled Party Vice President Iqbar Omar of being behind the squabbles, saying he want to oust Muluzi.

“Our constitution explicitly says that a national executive committee shall convene a national conference and not anybody from the streets. You cannot just work up to day and say we are calling for a convention.

“We cannot be working on instruction from disgruntled people whose master, Iqbar Omar was expelled from the party. These people are being sent by him and they are not doing things in good faith,” said Ndanga.

Effort to talk to Omar proved futile as his mobile went answered.
