PP SQUABBLES: ULADI IN CONTEMPT OF COURT

Opposition People’s Party (PP) Interim President Uladi Mussa risk arrest for allegedly defying court injunction restraining him from taking up his new position as he went ahead to represent the Party during a funeral ceremony of late Rose Chibambo.

During the funeral Ceremony on Saturday in Mzuzu, C.C.A.P Livingstonia Synod recognized Mussa to speak on behalf of the party despite the court in injunction obtained by some officials in the Party.

The development is allegedly to have not gone down well with some PP supporters who are pondering on dragging Mussa to court.

Five PP officials led by Sarim Bogus accusing former President Dr. Joyce Banda who is currently in self-imposed exile of flouting procedures in appointing Mussa and Kamlepo Kalua as Third Vice President for the North.

But Mussa is accusing former Vice President Khumbo Hastings Kachali of being behind the injunction, saying he want to take up the position.

“He (Kachali) is power hungry, selfish and greedy. He wants to be president of the party but he will not get it. This is the time for Uladi, he is just wasting his time, he must stop this nonsense,” said Mussa.

On his part, Kachali denied the claims, saying Mussa is entitled to his opinion.

Kachali said what he want is the party to be strong.

Kachali resigned from PP in the run up to the elections when Banda opted for the youthful Sosten Gwengwe as running mate leaving out Kachali who was vice president of the Republic.
