MAN KILLED OVER LOVE IN THYOLO

People of Nkundi village in the area of Traditional Authority Ngolongoliwa were in a sombre mood over the weekend following the brutal death of a 24 year old man, James Jimu who is believed to have been murdered by a certain man because he was having an affair with the man’s daughter.

Meanwhile the Police in Thyolo are looking for the ‘suspect’ whose details are still sketchy because he is still on the run.

Confirming the development in an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana), Thyolo Police Public Relations officer Inspector Edith Kachotsa said the suspect who also resides in the same village has been noticing that his daughter was going out with the victim for some time.

“After discovering that Jimu was dating her daughter, the suspect got angry and promised to deal with the victim as one way of warning him to stop going out with the daughter,” said Kachotsa.

Kachotsa further explained that on February 12, some eye witnesses saw the suspect chasing the victim towards Namadzi river which is within the vicinity of the village.

According to Kachotsa, the victim never returned home after the chase and unfortunately his body was found floating in Namadzi river the following day.

“On February 13, the victim’s body was found floating dead in Namadzi river with stabbed wounds on the head and the ears,” added Kachotsa.

Meanwhile, post-mortem results which was done at Thyolo District Hospital shows that the death occurred due to strangulation and loss of blood.mana
