GOVT SPOKESPERSON ACCUSES MCP, PP OF HIJACKING PAC MEETING

Minister of Information and Civic Education Jappie Mhango has accused for ruling People’s Party (PP) and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of hijacking the just ended Public Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting held in the commercial capital Blantyre.

The accusations follow the call that the two Parties made asking President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika toresigned within the period of 30days, saying he has failed to deal with the challenges the country is facing.

The two parties led by Jessie Kabwila and Kamlepo Kalua said Mutharika has no clue of how to solve the current economic challenges and the hunger situation which is worsening each day.

Reacting to the call, Mhango who looked so angry during the meeting flanked by the newly appointed Presidential Advisor on Domestic Affairs Hertherwick Ntaba described MCP and PP recommendations as baseless.

“Government does not and will never take ultimatums. You don’t run government on trial and error basis. Running government is a very serious business. No one can run government through ultimatums. And these ultimatums that we were given will not hold,” said Mhango.

The Minister described Kabwila, Kamlepo and Msonda as disgruntled politicians who has nothing to offer for Malawians.

Mhango also thanked PAC for organizing a fruitful meeting, saying delegates have provided solutions to some of the challenges the country is going through.

“Let me thank PAC for organizing that conference, whose intention, in my view was excellent. And the meeting, in my view, progressed extremely well and the recommendations that came out of the groups that were constituted in the meeting were excellent solutions and excellent recommendations for government to attend to. Some of them short term, medium, while many others long term.
