WHATSAPP COUP PLOT UPDATES: CHAKWANTHA SEEKING REFUGE AT GERMAN EMBASSY

Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) legal Advisor Lewis Chakwantha is currently seeking refuge at German Embassy in the capital in Lilongwe for fear of being arrested.

Chakwantha is being hunted for taking part in the leaked whatsApp conversation purportedly aiming at overthrowing President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

National Police Spokesperson Nicholas Gondwa confirmed of having an arrest warrant for Chankwantha in an interview with the press.

So far police have arrested two MPC officials namely Jessie Kabwila and Ulemu Msungama and both have been released on bail.

On Monday parliament premises turn to be a battle field as opposition MPs engaged in running battles with the police for mounting roadblocks in all routes from the August House.

Meanwhile Malawi Law Society (MLS) has trashed evidence used by the Police to arrest MCP officials, saying WhatsApp messages cannot be trusted.
