GOVT DENIES VICTIMIZING KABWILA’s DAUGHTER

The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has denied reports that the firing of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Jessie Kabwila’s daughter from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation is ‘political’.

Government terminated Internship for Louisa Kabwila through a letter dated March 2, 2016 addressed to her, citing limited office space as the main reason.

Reacting to the termination, Kabwila said this is political harassment by the ruling DPP targeting her and family.

“I am so certain this is part of political harassment and persecution that the government is subjecting members of the opposition and those critical to President Peter Mutharika,” said Kabwila.

Commenting on Kabwila concerns, DPP spokesperson Francis Kasaila told MIJ fm radio that the Party has no any intention of victimizing Kabwila and her daughter politically.

Kasaila said the reasons for terminations of Kabwila’s daughter internship are technical and the Party is not part of it.

DPP Spokespersons also accused Kabwila of regarding herself as more knowledgeable than others in the country.

Meanwhile social commentators have trashed the reasons given for the termination of internship of Kabwila’s daughter, saying government should tread carefully on the matter.
