Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President John Zenus Ungapake Tembo is on Wednesday set to receive honorary degree of doctor of Philosophy in leadership management by the University of Malawi (UNIMA).
The ceremony will be held at Great Hall in Zomba where President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will be in attendance.
According to information sourced by FaceofMalawi, the honorary will be awarded to Tembo as part of UNIMA 50 years anniversary celebrations.
Tembo’s honorary degree comes barely a month after UNIMA also awarded first lady Gertrude Mutharika honorary degree for her role in preserving the environment through Beautify Malawi Trust (BEAM).
Tembo resigned from frontline politics before the 2014 tripartite elections and he was succeeded by Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as MCP President.
