The Northern region has failed to make it in the Airtel Trace Music Star Top 10 which has seen the Central region dominating.

Airtel Malawi on Tuesday revealed the names of those who have qualified for the next phase of the multimillion Kwacha singing contest.

According to the list seen by FaceofMalawi, Blantyre has contributed three candidates, Zomba has only one representative while Lilongwe is being represented by six candidates.

The contenders from Lilongwe are Triza Chatata, Ruth Kulaisi who is also a television personality working with Zodiak TV, Chisomo Theteka, Sigela Akimu, Paul Kachala and Chigonjetso Katengeza.

Blantyre is being represented by Madalitso Fazili, Verrie Ngoma and Esther Chitheka who alongside Fazili are backup vocalists for gospel musician Faith Mussa and Zomba is being represented by Kalista Kalele.

The show to be produced by Times Television will be held at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre on Sunday.

Five participants are expected to be eliminated this weekend with the remaining one’s going in the finals scheduled for May 7.
