What goes round: Criminal drowns into sewage while trying to escape

An unknown criminal on Wednesday drowned into sewage while escaping from neighborhood watch security at Area 18B in Lilongwe.

Confirming the incidence to the Malawi News Agency (Mana), Lilongwe Police Station Spokesperson Inspector Kingsley Dandaula said a group of unknown criminals broke into Jeremiah Mwagomba’s house at Area 18B at around 3 am where they were chased away by a guard.

“The guard at the house saw the criminals and screamed for help and when the neighborhood watch security heard the screaming they chased the criminals and while escaping one of the criminals fell into sewage and drowned. He was found dead later in the morning,” said Dandaula.

The body was taken to the Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) where postmortem conducted revealed that death was due to suffocation. The body is currently at KCH mortuary pending identification.
