Umodzi Party President John Chisi supports death penalty on Albino killers

Umodzi Party (UP) President Professor John Chisi has backed the call by Civil Society Grand Coalition to have those people involved in the abduction, killing and exhuming bodies of Albinos subjected to death sentence, saying it’s the only solution to the matter.

Chisi said this on Tuesday in an interview with one of the privately owned radio in the country MIJ fm.

In the interview, Chisi said he is deeply shocked with the sharp increase in cases of albino killings in the country, saying people living with Albinism have a right to life as stipulated in the country’s constitution.

Chisi who looked so angry asked President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika act with seriousness on the matter not just issuing threats.

He said administering capital punishment to people involved in the malpractice is the only way to go.

“People living with albinism are like us let them have peace. Hunting them as wild animals it’s in human and must stop,” said Chisi.

Published reports indicated that close to 17 people living with albinism have been killed in the country so far.
