Mozambique accident updates: 22 survivors repatriated to Malawi

Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that 22 survivors of the Tete road accident have been repatriated to Malawi.

The survivors arrived in the country on Wednesday through Mwanza boarder post.

Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Francis Kasaira said three Malawians have been confirmed dead.

He said three Malawians are in critical condition and are receiving treatment in Mozambique’s hospital and two of the three are pregnant women.

According to media reports, the accident involved three cars including a Nyamende bus that was travelling from South Africa to Malawi carrying 68 passengers.

So far about 11 people have been confirmed dead, three Malawians, one South African and others are not known at the moment.

The Malawian survivors are currently receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
