CHIRADZULU DHO,CHINOMBA IS ANSWERING DRUG THEFT CASE

While the Malawi government continues to register good number of people lost their lives due to drug shortage in public hospitals, people like Dr. Gift Chinomba still have guts to steal the same little amount drugs which fail to cater for population of people in the country.

Chinomba, who is the District Health Officer ( DHO) for Chiradzulu was arrested on Monday in connection with the theft of drugs worth 10 million.

Chinomba appeared in court on Tuesday where a magistrate granted him a bail but he will appear again before court today.

The DHO is likely to be charged with offence of theft by public servant with provisions of section 283 of the penal code.

According to police investigations, Dr. Chinomba is suspected to have been signing for procurement of drugs from the Southern Region Medical Stores in Frebruary this year but supplies were never made.

Isaac Bakali, a pharmacy technician and Anderson Msuku, a driver are also the partakers in such move with Dr. Chinomba.

According to Chiradzulu police public relations Officer Sergeant Victoria Chirwa, the pharmacist and driver were the first to be arrested.
