Mutharika fires Traditional Authority Chekucheku

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has with immediate effect fire Traditional Authority Chekucheku of Neno district for misusing his position.

Lawrence Makonyola, Director of Chief’s in in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has confirmed of the development.

He said the dismissal letter has been presented to the Chief.

Makonyola said the family has been asked to find a replacement.

Chekucheku is being accused of abusing his chieftaincy by among others using his powers to illegally acquire land.

Chekucheku was also suspended by former President Dr. Joyce Banda but he won the case in court and he was reinstated.
