JB enjoying in self-imposed exile

Former President and opposition People’s Party (PP) founder, Dr. Joyce Banda continues to enjoy international recognition in her self-imposed exile as she has been jointly appointed as ‘Visiting Distinguished Fellow’ in United States of America.

According Banda’s personal aide Tusekele Mwanyongo, Banda has been appointed by two United States of America Think Tanks, the Wilson Institute and the Center for Global Development.

“Two United States of America Think Tanks, the Wilson Institute and the Center for Global Development, have jointly appointed Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda as ‘Visiting Distinguished Fellow’. Congratulations are in order Your Excellency!,” Wrote Mwanyongo.

Banda left in the country just after the May 20, 14 tripartite elections which saw President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika emerging victorious and she has now clocked two years while abroad.

Her trip raised a lot of speculations among Malawians with others accusing her of running away from the ongoing investigations to the plunder of public funds dubbed cashgate but she denied the claims.

Banda attributed her continued stay in self-imposed exile to failure by government to provide her a house to stay as former President as stipulated in the constitution of Malawi.
