Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) employees have threaten a national wide strike next week to force government to raise their salaries.
ESCOM employees want government under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to hike their salaries by 25 percent.
One of the workers at ESCOM who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed of the strike, saying the workers are tired by government’s false promises.
Last week it was reported that ESCOM workers were planning to implement a national wide blackout this week but the claim was later refuted.
