Two suspected thieves caught stealing maize in Lilongwe: one suspect burnt to death by angry mob

A suspected thief has been burnt to death in the capital Lilongwe while the other one is battling for his life after being beaten by angry mob.

The deceased has been identified as Gibo while the survivor of mob justice has been identified as Obadiya Banda.

According to an eyewitness from the scene, the two suspects were caught red-handed stealing maize in the house of a certain man in the Township around 4 am today.

He said the owner shouted for help after seeing the thieves and residents in the area responded positively and apprehended the suspects.

The eyewitness said after apprehending the suspects, the angry mob decided to set ablaze both but the other one survived.

Meanwhile Police are yet to visit the scene of the incident.
