The swarm of locusts are leaving no any fresh leaf behind as they are destroying anything that appear to be green of the Lower Shire districts, Nsanje and Chikwawa.
According to source indicate that this cloud of locusts is destroying crops which had been planted to alleviate the hunger situation that is everybody’s fear now in this country.
The locusts have also been said to have invaded the sugarcane farms for Illovo, however they have been sprayed with insecticides.
The report shows that there is likely that some people may eat these sprayed locusts despite are very dangerous to human health.
“The insecticides used to kill these locusts are harmful and it is the case that people are still picking the locusts to eat and sale them,” said a source.
It is believed that the government of Malawi is aware of situation.
