Wandale updating his Facebook page while in Police cell

Debate has ensued on social media following the arrest of Peoples Land Organization (PLO) leader Vincent Wandale for allegedly mobilizing people in Thyolo and Mulanje to grab land from Tea Estates.

Since his arrest on Saturday, Wandale has been updating his Facebook page with new post attracting debate from followers.

And yesterday after being denied bail at Blantyre Magistrate Court, Wandale took the issue to his Facebook page informing his followers that he has been transferred to Chichiri Prison and many people who were comment on the post raised questions regarding the development.

Most of them questioned the Police as to whether some of the laws have been reviewed and now anyone arrested is allowed to enter with any material likes phones in Police cell.

Mathews Banda wrote: “Thought we read that you have not b33m arrested according so some Police Spokesperson as reported by Nyasa Times? And who is updating your Facebook status or as Supreme Leader you have the privilege of keeping your phone?”

Another person identified as Silvesta Khonje wrote: “BT HOW DO U MAKE POSTS?”

Wandale has been charged with four counts; Conspiracy to commit a misdemeanour, Unauthorized use of land, Inciting violence and Criminal trespassing.

Meanwhile his case set to commence on Thursday and the case has been referred to Thyolo Magistrate Court.
