A 26 year old man, Isaac Chiumia is in Police custody in Mzuzu for allegedly stabbing to death a 28 year old businessman.
Mzuzu Police Station Deputy Publicist, Cecilia Mfune has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Martin Mazunda from Mpamba in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Timbiri in Nkhata-Bay District.
According to Mfune, the suspect committed the offence on Tuesday at Luwinga Township in the city.
She said the suspect stabbed Mazunda who was in his shop selling goods on the chest and he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Chiumia hails from Chituka village, Traditional Authority Malengamzoma in Nkhata-Bay.
He is expected to appear court soon to answer charges of murder contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code.
