State House denies sending Mutharika out of the country secretly to seek medical attention

As debate continues over the health condition of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, State House has denied rumours hovering on the social media that the President has been secretly flown back to USA for medical attention.

 

Mutharika arrived in the country Sunday afternoon through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) with left hand only functioning.

 

The development ignited debate among Malawians especially those on facebook and twitter that Mutharika suffered from stroke which left him paralyzed.

 

And now the social media is awashed with reports that Mutharika has been flown back to United States of America to seek medical attention.

 

Reacting to the rumours, Presidential Press Officer Mgeme Kalilani denied the rumours, saying the claims are untrue.

 

Kalilani also rejected the claims that Mutharika ill, saying he is not aware of the development.

Meanwhile human right activist in the country have called for the immediate resignation of President Mutharika on health grounds.

The activists have also asked the government officials especially those in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to put the health of Mutharika on the forefront by allowing him to seek medical attention.
