13 ladies to tussle for Miss Blantyre on Friday at Comesa Hall

Blantyre’s cream has been selected and Friday is the day of reckoning where Blantyre’s finest will be crowned as Miss Blantyre at Comesa Hall.

A total of 13 ladies will compete in six categories namely Zachimalawi, Professional, Brand Exhibition, Casual, Dinner and Talent.

The number will then be reduced to the top 5 who will battle it out in the very do or die category where judges will take them through a quiz to assess their reasoning skills.

To spice up the event with music on the night is Lulu & Mathumela Band, Blaze, Queen B, LCee, Sil C, Twin M, Steve Spesho and Wesley.

The show will also be graced with stand-up comedian Mr. Jokes and poetry from the Hudson Abengo Chamasowa and Faith Pinky Ice.

Miss Blantyre Organising Chairman, Daniel Ngwira has promised Blantyre residents fireworks saying the girls are ready and there will be a lot of creative activities that will both entertain the patrons but also give judges a very tough time to pick the best.

The auditions for the big event were conducted twice to give judges ample time to identify the ideal Miss Blantyre.

The ladies are said to have undergone several trainings including mentorship skills.

Daphney Allidah Namame, Founder and Director for Your Image, a psychology company also played a part in helping individuals identify themselves and their potentials as part of the event.

According to Ngwira, the girls’ response has been very overwhelming and should provide the judges with a gruesome task in identifying the best girl to represent Blantyre.

“For example, in Zachimalawi, unlike in the past where models paraded in traditional outfit, we have grown past that and challenged each girl to limit their innovation from within Malawi, hence to show us how much they can best represent our country,” he said.

Moreover, Ngwira says patrons should feel free to come with their spouses, kids and families as security will be tight to ensure that everyone enjoys the event.

At the door, patrons will have a rare privilege to pose for the camera for a professional photo shoot as Sparkling Photography shall lead them through the process. Being a red carpet event, it is expected that patrons will dress to kill enough and challenge the cameras.

The winner for Miss Blantyre this year will pocket a K250, 000 cash prize and a Baking Scholarship from Julies Bakery.

Wow Designs Africa has also offered the winner 5 sessions of free tailoring services for her designer outfits.
