Francis Mphepo appointed DPP interim Secretary General

The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has appointed Francis Mphepo as its interim Secretary General replacing late Eckleni Kudontoni.

Kudontoni died in car accident at Kasese near Bua roadblock in on Thursday while on his way to Kasungu and was laid to rest on Friday at his home village in Salima and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika attended the funeral.

DPP spokesperson Francis Kasaila has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Katsaila,Mphepo who is also the Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs will hold the position until when the party shall find a permanent replacement for Kudontoni.

The appointment is with immediate effect.
