Uladi not shaken with Msonda’s move to join DPP

Opposition People’s Party (PP) Interim President Uladi Mussa has said the Party is not shaken with the recent defection of its members to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

On Sunday, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika led DPP followers in welcoming former PP Spokesperson and Adminiatrative Secretary Ken Msonda together with fired Zomba Ntonya PP member of parliament Patrick Makina, Clara Makungwa , Jones Chingola, former organising ecretray Salim Bagus, Professor Etta Banda, Prof Isaac Lamba,Wamkulu Nchauta Khumbo Chirwa,Henry Mumba and Shabani Mchizi.

Speaking in an interview with one of the privately owned radio-MIJ fm, Mussa said the party is not shaken by the stand taken by Msonda and other members.

He said the Party believes in democracy where any member is free to join a political party of his wish.

Mussa went further in urging People’s Party (PP) Members not to be taken away by the whirlwind, saying the Party will return in government come 2019.

On his part PP spokesman Noah Chimpeni downplayed the defections, saying apart from Makungwa who was one of the founders of PP, the rest of the politicians are nomadic and fortune seekers who always follows where there is power.

“Most of the defectors have not been active in PP for a long time and are just positioning themselves for constituency seats under the DPP banner,” said Chimpeni.
