Five people killed in road accident in Ntcheu, six others seriously injured

Five people died on the spot while several others sustained serious injuries on Thursday after a vehicle they were travelling in overturned near Doviko Trading Centre along Ntcheu-Tsangano earth road.

Ntcheu Police spokesperson Gift Matewere confirmed of the accident in an interview the press, saying the accident happened Thursday morning.

According to Matewere, the lorry developed brake failure upon arriving at the market and the driver failed to control the vehicle and in the process the lorry overturned.

Matewere said six survives have been rushed to Ntcheu District Hospital for medical attention but they are in critical condition.

Meanwhile the driver of the lorry is on the run.
