Maize-gate: ADMARC sues Times Group over Zambia maize deal

Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) has obtained an injunction restraining one of the popular local media in the country, Times Group to stop publishing stories regarding the procurement process of maize from neighbouring Zambia.

Judicial Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula and lawyer for ADMARC Shepher Mumba have confirmed of the development in an interview with the press on Thursday evening.

According to a file seen by FaceofMalawi reporter, the court has ordered the publication should not report “false and untrue “ stories about Admarc in relation to the procurement of maize from Zambia.

The High Court warned that if the newspaper disobey the order of writing false stories they may be found guilty of contempt of court.

The order has also included reporter Ntchindi Meki and newspaper columnist Madalitso Mussa who is the author of Tales of Times.

Meanwhile Times Group is yet to respond on the order.
