Falling tree damages 10 minibuses at Mibawa bus depot, several people injured

Information reaching faceofMalawi indicates that several people have sustained serious injuries when a mahogany tree fell on mini buses at Mibawa Bus Depot in in the commercial capital Blantyre.

The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon following heavy downpour accompanied by hailstom experienced in the city.

Spokesperson for Blantyre Police Station Andrew Mayawo confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Mayawo said police are yet to establish the number of casualties and mini buses that have been damaged.

But an eyewitness who rushed to scene said, close to ten minibuses have been damaged by the tree.

The eyewitness further said some of people who have sustained serious injuries have been taken to Queen Elizabeth Central hospital for treatment.
