Police arrest imposter for allegedly stealing K50, 000 from Chileka residents over MDF recruitment

Police in Blantyre is keeping in custody the suspect Samuel Chitheka who is reported to have claimed to be a Malawi Defense Force (MDF) soldier from Changalume Barracks in Zomba.

According to police, the suspect collected K50,000 from Chileka township residents and several people in surrounding places like Lunzu and others.

He tricked people that he will facilitate their recruitments.

Chileka police spokesperson Grace Mwale said the suspect went on the run after he had swindled money from several residents.

Police has since Warned the public to follow proper channels when looking for employment.
