Lucius faults MBC for banning his music

Veteran musician Lucius Chiko Banda who is also Member of Parliament for Balaka North has accused the state controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) of banning his music without official communication.

In 2011, MBC also stopped playing Lucius songs for allegedly being critical of late President Bingu wa Mutharika’s reign one of his songs.

Writing on his official facebook page, Banda wondered as to why the state-controlled MBC is not playing his songs for a month now.

“The pain of being an active malawian Citizen……..someone just decides to unofficially Ban my music on MBC (for some months now)kaya ndi kachingati tsopano? Why don’t you ban me from paying tax as well….. koma ineyo? ndidzakasimba kwa mlengi wanga,” wrote Banda.

Recently Banda openly criticized the working relationship between the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and United Democratic Front (UDF), saying the married is only benefiting Atupele Muluzi who is currently serving as Minister of Lands and Housing.

“I have not seen any significant benefit of the partnership, apart from a single cabinet position and two ambassadorial posts. But on the ground, there is totally nothing to show.

“It’s the high time we should start repositioning ourselves. Let’s leave other people’s business and start minding our own.,” said Banda.
