MCP accuses DPP of using Mulumbe to shield Chaponda in Maize-gate

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has asked the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to stop using suspended ADMARC CEO Foster Mulumbe to shield former Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Dr. George Chaponda in the ongoing maize-gate scandal.

MCP spokesperson on Finance Alexander Kusamba Dzonzi said this in an interview when he was reacting to the decision taken by ADMARC board to suspend Mulumbe, Director of Operations Feckson Kantonga.

Dzonzi expressed his sadness on how the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is handling the whole case.

He said the DPP should first arrest Dr. Chaponda before dealing with Mulumbe and his colleagues, saying Chaponda is the main culprits in the whole saga.

Dzonzi also asked government to fire Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Erica Maganga and Director of Finance in the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile officials from government are yet to respond on the matter.
