10 Women Arrested for Illegal Brewing and Selling of Kachaso

10 women in Dowa district are to answer the charges of illegal sale of liquor and illegal manufacture of liquor for sale after they were found brewing and selling Kachaso.

Adding on that, police have also banned the women`s association which they formed to help them in their business of Kachaso.

Dowa police spokesperson Richard Kaponda identified the ten suspects as Agness Mtheya(49), Lizinet Mathewe(46), Loness Zadutsa(43), Mikinesi Manase(42), Enita Nelson(40), Labita Bonongwe(37), Litina Chisale(36), Elube Donald(35), Agness Kantayeni(31) and Efelo Griffin(30).

It has also been reported that the women used to give the said beer to their small children so that they sleep fast hence they should not disturb them whilst they are conducting their business.

Kaponda disclosed that the suspects will soon appear in court after the completion of investigations.

They are to answer the charges of illegal sale of liquor contrary to section 72 sub section 1a of Liquor act, and illegal manufacture of liquor for sale contrary to section 71 sub section 1 of Liquor Act
