Vincent Wandale appearing in court today for obtaining cash by false pretense

Self-claimed President for the United States of Thyolo and Mulanje, Vincent Wandale is today appearing before Blantyre Senior Resident Magistrate court in a case where he is being accused of obtaining cash by false pretense.

Wandale was arrested on Friday last week in Lilongwe after a complaint lodged by some villagers from Thyolo and Mulanje.

Wandale, who is leader of Peoples Land, is said to have collected money from people in Mulanje and Thyolo on the understanding that he would forcebly get land from tea estates which he would redistribute to the people.

The deal went sour when he was arrested, brought before court and given a suspended sentence.

But Wandale has accused Senior Chief Ngolongoliwa of mobilising villagers to falsely accuse him with the aim of subjecting him to torture.
